In 1986, I joined Sony as an account manager in their Office Products Division (OPD), headquartered in Park Ridge, New Jersey. Communication was a deliberate effort, involving answering services, phone booths, and stacks of quarters.

Despite these limitations, I advanced from an account manager to VP of Sales, managing remote teams for the majority of my career. Success didn’t come easily—sales, like sports, has its wins and losses. But with strong communication and teamwork, we consistently performed at a high level, achieving “championship” results in some years.
