My Early LinkedIn Story I have had LinkedIn for more years than I can remember. I have no idea when I first created my profile. And when I say created, that is generous. It was basically a resume sitting on a digital shelf. Nothing more. Nothing less. Over the years it got a little better. A nicer picture. Updated experience. A few small edits. But did it do anything for me. The honest answer is no. It just sat there looking respectable and doing nothing. |

When LinkedIn Went From My Online Resume To My Megaphone When I started my sales coaching business, something clicked. I realized LinkedIn is not a resume. It is not a billboard. It is not a business card. It is a living tool. And once I started treating it that way, everything changed. I began posting consistently. I read other people’s posts. I commented. I liked. I engaged. I shared insights. I let people see who I am, what I do, and how I help. And LinkedIn responded because I finally showed up. My content began reaching people. New conversations started. Prospects reached out. Clients found me. Even this BeenThere Sales Weekly column goes right onto LinkedIn every week and people comment on it, share it, and tag others. LinkedIn did not suddenly get better. I started using it. |

You have the tool. Use it. Staring at a jar you have not been able to open with your hands will not loosen the lid. The gripper in the drawer below will. |

A Masterclass In LinkedIn From Chris Steffens Recently I had a great meeting with Chris Steffens, and if you want to see what true mastery of LinkedIn looks like, look at Chris. He understands how to grow visibility, build credibility, and turn activity into opportunity in ways most people never fully leverage. Chris is a Brand and Business Development Consultant with more than fourteen years of experience, and his philosophy says everything you need to know about how he approaches LinkedIn. Think local but be global. He treats LinkedIn like a global stage, not a digital resume. Because he practices what he teaches, people find him every day. They see his strategies for growth, his insights on competition, and his consistent content. And they hire him because it works. You can see his profile here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/itschrissteffens/ Chris shared a line with me that stopped me cold. Content is king. It is a lonely kingdom without any followers. He proved that point with a client who came to him with zero followers and zero visibility. With Chris’s guidance, this person built more than five hundred followers in a very short time. That does not happen by accident. It happens when you use the tool. When I asked Chris what problem he solves, he said it with perfect clarity. Exposure. People are invisible, and invisible business does not grow. His guidance is simple. Post regularly. Follow people you want to connect with. Comment on their content. Engage with the people who engage with you. Visibility creates connection. Connection creates opportunity. Opportunity creates business. You may already be working with an excellent LinkedIn consultant. If you are not, message Chris Steffens on LinkedIn and tell him Phil sent you. You will be happy you did. https://www.linkedin.com/in/itschrissteffens/ |

LinkedIn Is Not a Decoration. It Is A Gold Mine Here is the truth. If you are in business, especially business to business, LinkedIn is one of the most powerful tools you have. It allows you to reach prospects, clients, suppliers, referrers, distributors, partners, and future partners. It helps them find you. It helps you find them. When you use it with intention, it becomes a growth engine. When you ignore it, it becomes digital wallpaper. LinkedIn is gold when you use it. |
