Why should you or anyone else stop and read this article? The reason is because there are missed opportunities to get positive ROI results simply because people are not doing the things necessary to make a positive return on your investment happen. The problem that needs solving is to ensure everyone in your organization understands the importance of getting a positive return on every investment of time and money. We are not going to dive into all the relative examples. There are enough of them to write a book on this topic. Let’s net it out to this; Don’t assume. Communicate and confirm. |

The Missed Opportunity That Happens Too Often I was recently speaking with Angela, a business associate of mine. Her husband Tom recently attended a conference that was supported by exhibitors. He stopped at several booths because he had interest in their products or services. He gave them his contact information, and was expecting to be contacted. Not one of them followed up with Tom. He is not happy. Think about that for a moment. The exhibitors invested money in the event, sent people to work in the booths, paid for transportation, materials, time away from the office, and all the other costs associated with attending the conference. Let’s not forget that they were exhibiting at this conference because they wanted to meet new prospects and make sales. Are they still waiting for Tom to call them? |

ROI Is Talked About Constantly, Is It Being Managed Properly? When I meet with businesses, conversations about ROI happen all the time. Businesses want positive returns on their investments, and they should. The question is this: Are you clearly setting ROI expectations for every sales-related event and activity that you are doing and communicating them clearly to all of your people who are involved in each of those efforts? I am especially talking about the people who work for you, create programs, plan events, attend events, and are responsible for the follow-through afterward. Define what an acceptable ROI is, communicate it clearly, and confirm that the actions necessary to achieve it are actually happening |

Making ROI Happen Is More Complex Than It Sounds This may sound simple. It is not. There is more complexity to planning, communicating, and executing ROI expectations than most people realize. That is where I come in. If your business is not maximizing its return-on-investment opportunities, the easiest place to start is by taking a closer look at what is happening right now. Give me a call and let’s talk about it. I look forward to hearing from you. |
